The basic premise to survival the ability to hunt for food, seek shelter, and reproduce- we sometimes

   are oblivious of the needs of these small creatures, yet they have existed on this planet before

     mankind made their 1st appearance. It is said, "man shall take dominion of the earth". Does this 

       mean that the life that existed before is of little consequence to him? I think that these creatures are just a fraction

          of life in creation & therefore one of those "simple things" to cherish, not something to destroy as a

            matter of convience.
